Materials Manager | Norton Shores, MI

Salary Range: $77,000 - $117,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and optimize inventory levels for raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
• Oversee material planning, procurement, and scheduling to support production demands.
• Develop and implement strategies for material cost reduction and supply chain efficiency.
• Ensure accurate material forecasting and collaborate with production and sales teams.
• Manage supplier relationships and performance related to material delivery and quality.
• Lead and develop the materials management team, including warehouse and planning staff.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives in material flow, storage, and handling processes.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in materials management, supply chain, or procurement within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven expertise with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) for inventory control, planning, and procurement.
• Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles, JIT, and inventory optimization techniques.
• Demonstrated leadership and negotiation skills with suppliers and internal teams.
• Excellent analytical and forecasting abilities to manage material flow and prevent disruptions.

Bonus Qualifications

• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher certification.
• APICS CPIM or CSCP certification.
• Advanced proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and data analytics tools.
• Experience with international sourcing, logistics, and customs compliance.
