Materials Manager | Plainwell, MI

Salary Range: $78,000 - $118,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are collaborating with manufacturing firms in Plainwell that are seeking skilled Materials Managers. Key Responsibilities

• Manage and optimize inventory levels to meet production demands and minimize carrying costs.
• Oversee the entire procurement process, from supplier selection to contract negotiation and order placement.
• Develop and implement robust material planning strategies using MRP/ERP systems.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the materials planning, purchasing, and warehousing teams.
• Collaborate with production, sales, and engineering to ensure accurate forecasting and material availability.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives in material flow, logistics, and supply chain efficiency.
• Monitor and report on key materials KPIs, including inventory turns, lead times, and cost variances.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in materials management, supply chain, or procurement within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and advanced planning tools.
• Strong understanding of inventory control principles, production planning, S&OP processes, and lean manufacturing methodologies.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities with excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Bonus Qualifications

• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
• APICS CPIM or CSCP certification
• Proficiency with advanced data analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
• Experience with global logistics and international trade compliance
